Iran, S. Korea stress boosting bilateral cooperation

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi and South Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Joo Hyung-hwan discussed bilateral cooperation, especially in peaceful nuclear energy industry.

During the meeting here in Tehran, Salehi said the South Korean official’s visit to Iran shows the country’s determination to expand trade and economic ties with the country.

The South Korean official is in Iran along with an economic delegation.

He also highlighted South Korean capability in nuclear energy and welcomed boosting bilateral ties in peaceful nuclear energy uses.

Joo Hyung-hwan, for his part, welcomed developing mutual cooperation in post-JCPOA era and stressed his country’s serious participation in establishing comprehensive and durable cooperation between the two countries.

South Korea is a key trade partner of Iran in Asia. Seoul imports as much as 10 percent of its required oil supplies from Iran.

The current volume of trade between the two countries stands at around $9 billion which is expected to be increased to well above $10 billion in the near future.
